OzzBooks privacy policy
Last updated: October 28, 2026
OzzBooks is an audiobook, ebook and comic player made by OzzWorks, an independent app studio. It plays books from storage you already have; it does not sell or host books. This page explains what information the app and its account service keep, and what happens to it. If anything here is unclear, write to support@ozzworks.com.
Your account
- Your email address and a hashed password (the password itself is never stored or readable). If you signed up with an invitation code, that code is kept in hashed form too.
- Your account is stored in a database hosted by Neon (neon.tech), in the United States. The account service runs on a server operated by OzzWorks.
- Technical logs (for example the time of a request and the network address it came from) are kept for security, abuse prevention and troubleshooting. They are not used for advertising or analytics.
What your account keeps so it works on all your devices
- Where you stopped in each book, bookmarks, notes and highlights, your library shelf, playlists, and your playback and reading settings.
- Which books you have downloaded to each device, and when you last played them.
- The list of sources you add (for example a WebDAV server or a Google Drive folder): their type, a name, the address, and the username. The list follows your account to your other devices.
The administrator of the service can see which accounts exist and can see the data above, and may look at it when you ask for help or to keep the service secure. The administrator does not read the content of your files or the books you have on your own sources.
What stays on your device
- Passwords for your sources (such as a WebDAV password) and Google sign-in tokens are saved in the iOS Keychain on your device. If iCloud Keychain is on, Apple syncs them between your own devices. They are never sent to the OzzBooks account service.
- Downloaded books, covers and folders you pick in Files stay on the device. Folders you pick in Files are not shared with other devices.
- If more than one account is used on the same device, each account keeps its own list and settings. A downloaded file is stored once on the device and may be used by more than one account.
Books and files from your sources
When you add a source, the app connects directly from your device to that source (for example your own NAS or Google Drive) to list and play the books. OzzBooks does not copy your books to its account service.
What Google Drive is used for
- Read-only access to files in Google Drive (the
drive.readonlypermission), so the app can find the audiobooks and ebooks in the folder you choose and play them. - The email address of the Google account, shown in the app so you can tell which account is connected.
OzzBooks never changes, deletes or uploads anything in Google Drive. In the iOS app the Google tokens are kept on your device, as described above.
What is not done
- Your information, including information from Google, is not sold, shared or given to anyone outside the OzzBooks account service described here.
- It is not used for advertising, profiling or analytics, and the app has no advertising or tracking.
- Only the services described on this page, and Apple's own services (TestFlight, the App Store, iCloud) when you use them, handle your information.
Google API Services User Data Policy
OzzBooks's use and transfer to any other app of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
Disconnecting and deleting
- You can remove any source in the app (Settings, My Sources), or remove Google's access at myaccount.google.com/permissions.
- You can delete your account in the app (Settings, Account, Delete Account), or by emailing the address below. Either way, the account and everything stored with it is deleted from the account database, including your positions, bookmarks, notes, playlists, shelf and source list. Deleting in the app also removes that account's downloads and saved passwords from the device.
- Removing the app deletes the downloads and the Keychain items kept only on that device.
- Copies kept in routine backups made for recovery are removed as those backups are replaced.
Children
OzzBooks is not directed at children under 13, and the account service does not knowingly collect information from them. If you believe a child has made an account, write to the address below and it will be deleted.
Changes
If this policy changes, the date at the top changes. Material changes will be explained to account holders in the app or by email before they take effect.
